Generic Flonase
Drug name: Flonase
Active Ingredients: fluticasone propionateTherapeutic actions: Flonase contains the active ingredient fluticasone which belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids. In therapeutic doses the medication exerts anti inflammatory, antiedemic and anti inflammatory action. Anti-inflammatory action is associated with interaction of the medication with corticosteroid receptors. Flonase inhibits the release and production of inflammatory mediators. Anti-allergic action is observed in 2-4 hours after the first application. The medication lowers nasal itching, sneezing, rhinitis, relieves eye symptoms related to allergic rhinitis.
Indications: Flonase is indicated in the following conditions:
- Treatment of seasonal and all year-round nasal allergy symptoms
- Treatment of non allergic rhinitis.
Contraindications and cautions:
Flonase should not be taken if any of the following conditions apply to you:- Hypersensitivity to any of the medication ingredients
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding
- Children under 4 years of age
Flonase should be used with caution in:
- Herpes Zoster
- Bacterial infections of the upper respiratory tract
- Surgical interventions on the nasal cavity
- Concomitant use with corticosteroids
Adverse effects: There are possible side effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Flonase will experience it or any other.
- Flonase may cause the following side effects: headache, dryness and irritation of the nasopharynx, taste changes, nasal congestion, nasal bleedings; in very rare cases- perforation of nasal septum.
- Allergic reactions: skin rash, anaphylactic reactions, bronchospasms, edema.
