Active Ingredients:

Therapeutic actions: Zyrtec is anti-allergic preparation that belongs to a group of medicines called H1-histamine receptors blockers. Zyrtec prevents the development of allergic reactions, exerts antipruritic and anti-exudate effect. By preventing the release of histamine, Zyrtec lowers the migration of eosinophils, neutrophil, basophil, stabilizes the membranes of the mast cells. Zyrtec reduces the permeability of the capillary vessels, prevents tissue edema, relieves spasms of the smooth muscles. Zyrtec also decreases histamine-induced bronchoconstriction in bronchial asthma.
The medication does not exert anticholinergic and anti-serotonine action. In therapeutic doses Zyrtec does not possess sedative effects.
Indications: Zyrtec is indicated in the following conditions:
- Year-round and seasonal allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis(skin itching, sneezing, rhinorrhea, blear-eyedness, conjunctiva hyperemia.
- Hay fever
- Hives
- Allergic dermatosis (atopic dermatitis)
- Quincke's edema
Contraindications and cautions: Zyrtec should not be used in the following conditions:
- Hypersensitivity to any of the medication active ingredients
- Pregnancy
- Children under 6 month
- Breastfeeding women
Zyrtec should be used with caution in chronic kidney failure, elderly patients.
Avoid alcoholic beverages while taking Zyrtec.
Zyrtec side effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Zyrtec will experience it or any other.
- CNS: headache, dizziness, drowsiness, migraine
- Digestive system: dry mouth, diarrhea
- Allergic reactions: itching, rash, hives

- Zyrtec may interact with theophylline, resulting in decreased cetirizine clearance
- Zyrtec can change blood levels of certain antidepressants, anti psychotic, narcotics, nausea and vomiting medications.
