Drug name: Otinum
Active Ingredients:
- Choline salicylate
Therapeutic actions: Otinum contains the active ingredient choline salicylate that possesses anti-inflammatory and analgesic action. Otinum works by inhibiting the activity of the cyclooxygynase(COX) and ,thus, helps to reduces the production of inflammatory mediators called prostoglandins. Choline salicylate also inhibits the production of thromboxane and prostacyclin. Glycerol contributes to softening and elimination of the ear wax.
Indications: Otinum is approved to treat the following conditions:
- Acute otitis externa
- Aggravation of chronic otitis
- Acute otitis media
- Tympanitis
- Elimination of the ear wax
Contraindications and cautions: Otinum should not be taken:
- in known hypersensitivity to any of the medication ingredients
- perforation of the ear drum
- pregnancy
- breastfeeding
