Active Ingredients:
Cefixime
Therapeutic actions: Cefixime is a third generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of peptidoglycan - the main structure element of a bacterial cell. It is resistant to the action of beta-lactam and is effective against many strains of gram positive and negative bacteria. The drug is characterized by a broad spectrum of antibacterial action.
Indications: The drug is used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria:
- Gonorrhea
- Acute and chronic Bronchitis
- Pneumonia
- Pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis.
- Urogenital tract infections caused by sensitive bacteria.
- Bone, skin and hypodermic cellular tissue infection
- Otitis media
The drug also can be used for other purposes. Consult your doctor before using Zimaks.
Contraindications and cautions: The drug should not be used in the following cases:
- Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparation or other cephalosporins
- Viral or fungal infections
- Should not be used in children younger then 6 months
- The drug is not recommended during pregnancy. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant or are breastfeeding if Zimaks is the right drug for you.
The drugs prescription is considered carefully in Gastro-intestinal tract infections especially in cases of collitis. If used to treat long-term infections the patient needs to be examined for intestinal flora changes due to development of unwanted side-effects. During long-term therapy the drug may prove to be ineffective due to developing of resistance by certain strains of bacteria.
Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Zimaks will experience it or any other. If used according to the prescription the drugs side effects are expressed faintly.
- From the gastro-intestinal tract: diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, increased of activity in liver enzymes
- allergic reactions: skin rash, redness, itching.
- Other side-effects: headache, vaginitis, genital candidosis, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, increased levels of creatin.
