Drug name: Amoxi
Active Ingredients:
- Amoxicillin
Therapeutic actions: The active ingredients of Amoxi is Amoxicillin. belongs to a group of called penicillin antibiotics. Amoxicillin interferes with the ability of microorganisms to produce cell walls. Bacterial cell walls protect cells from entering the foreign substances inside the cells and stop the contents of cells from leaking out. Amoxicillin inhibits transpeptidase, disturbing the synthesis of peptidoglycan that is essential component in bacterial cell walls. This leads to the lysis of the bacteria. Amoxicillin is effective against aerobic Gram-positive bacteria: Staphylococcus spp, Streptococcus spp and aerobic Gram-negative bacteria: Clostridium tetani, Clostridium welchii, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, Bacillus anthracis, Listeria monocytogenes, Helicobacter pylori, Klebsiella spp.. Amoxicillin is less effective against: Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, typhi, Shigella sonnei, Vibrio cholerae.
Indications: Amoxicillin is used to treat infectious diseases caused by sensitive to amoxicillin bacteria.
- Bacterial infection of the respiratory system (chronic and acute bronchitis, pneumonia)
- Upper respiratory tract infection (nasal passages, sinuses or throat : sinusitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, tonsillitis)
- Bacterial infections of the abdomen (peritonitis).
- Urinary tract or kidneys infections (pyelonephritis).
- Middle
- Skin and soft tissue diseases caused by bacteria (boils, abscesses, cellulitis, impetigo)
- infections of the women genitals following childbirth or abortion.
- Gonorrhea.
- Blood infections (septicemia or blood poisoning).

- Dental abscess
- Paratyphoid and typhoid fever.
- Peptic ulcers (in combination with other medicines) caused by Helicobacter pylori
- Meningitis
- Sepsis
- Leptospirosis
- Listeriosis
- Gastrointestinal infections(enterocolitis, enteric fever, cholangitis, cholecystitis)
- Salmonellosis
- Lyme disease
Contraindications and cautions: Do not use Amoxicillin if you experience the following conditions:
- Bronchial asthma, hay fever
- Infections mononucleosis
- Liver failure
- Lymphoid leukemia
- Digestive system disorders in anamnesis(especially colitis caused by taking antibiotics)
- Breastfeeding
- Cytomegalovirus
- Hypersensitivity to amoxicillin and B-lactam antibiotics
- Pregnancy
Talk with you doctor prior to taking Amoxicillin in:
- kidney failure
- Severe bleeding
Warning!You should take Amoxicillin as prescribed by your doctor. It is important to finish the course of treatment till the end. Even if you feel better do not stop taking this medication.
Amoxicillin side effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Amoxicillin will experience it or any other.
- reactions: hives, erythema, Quinke's edema, rhinitism conjunctivitis, fever, joints pain,
- Digestive system: dysbacteriosis, taste changes, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, stomatitis, glossitis, liver dysfunction, enterocolitis
- CNS: nervousness, insomnia,mood changes, depression, peripheric neuropathy, headache, dizziness, seizures.
- Urinary tract: nephritis.
- Hematopoietuc system: leukopenia, hypogranulocytosis, trompocytopenia, anemia.
- Other: shortness of breathing, increased heart rate, vaginal candidosis, super infection.

Especially pay attention to the following medications: Allopurinol, Methotrexate, Probenecid, anticoagulants, oral contraceptives, antacids. Glycosamine, laxative, aminoglycoside antibiotics, acid ascorbic, macrolides, diuretics and NSAID's.
