Active Ingredients:

  • Ampicillin and Oxacillin

Therapeutic actions: Ampiox is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that contains two active ingredients: Ampicillin and Oxacillin. Ampicillin and Oxacillin belong to a group of preparations called penicillin antibiotics. Ampicillin and Oxacillin interferes with the ability of the bacteria to form cell walls. Bacterial cell walls protect cells from entering the foreign substances inside the cells and stop the contents of cells from leaking out. Ampicillin and Oxacillin work by inhibiting enzyme transpeptidase, disturbing the synthesis of peptidoglycane that is essential component in bacterial cell walls. This causes hole to appear in the bacterial cell walls resulting in lysis of the bacteria. Ampiox is effective against wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Indications: Ampiox is used to treat infectious diseases caused by sensitive to Ampiox bacteria. These diseases include: sinusitis, tonsillitis, middle otitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, cholangitis, pyelonephritis, pyelitis, cystitis, urethritis, gonorrhea, cervicitis.

Ampiox is effective in skin and soft tissue infections: erysipelas, impetigo, secondary infectious dermatosis.

Ampiox can be treated infections in newborn children and severe infections(sepsis, endocarditis, meningitis, post-natal infections)

Contraindications and cautions: Do not use Ampiox if you experience the following conditions:

  • Bronchial asthma, hay fever
  • Infections mononucleosis
  • Liver failure
  • Lymphoid leukemia
  • Cytomegalovirus
  • Digestive system disorders in anamnesis(especially colitis caused by taking antibiotics)
  • Breastfeeding
  • Bronchial asthma, hay fever

  • Hypersensitivity to ampicillin, oxacillin and B-lactam antibiotics

Use Ampiox with caution in:

  • kidney failure

Antacids, glycosamine, laxative, food, aminoglycoside antibiotic decrease absorption of Ampiox active ingredient into the blood. Acid ascorbic ,conversely, increases absorption. Bactericidal in combination with Ampiox exert synergisitic effect. Bacteriostatic(macrolide, chloramphenicole, tetracycline, sulfonamides) exerts antagonistic effects.

Ampiox increases the efficacy of anticoagulants and decreases the efficiency of oral birth control pills. Diuretics, allopurinol, Calcium Channel Blockers, NSAID's increase the concentration of the preparation in the blood. That may increase the risk of toxic substances. Allopurinol increases the risk of skin rash while taking Ampiox.
