Drug name: Doramycin
Active Ingredients:
- Spiramycin
Therapeutic actions: The active ingredient of Doramycin is spiramycin that belongs to macrolide antibiotics. Spiramycin possesses bacteriostatic properties due to interfering with the intracellular synthesis of the proteins. In high dosages Spiramycin can exert bactericidal action. Spiramycin is effective against Gram-positive cocci. Beside its antibacterial activity Spiramycin also possesses immunomodulatory and moderate anti inflammatory properties.
Indications: Doramycin is used to treat infections caused by sensitive to Spiramycin bacteria:
- Acute pneumonia
- Aggravation of chronic bronchitis
- ENT diseases(sinusitis, tonsillitis, media otitis)
- Osteomyelitis and arthritis
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Urogenital system infections
- Sexual transmitted diseases(clamidiosis)
- Prophylaxis of meningococcal meningitis
- Toxicoplasmosis
- Prophylaxis of acute rheumatic disease
- Cryptosporidiosis
Contraindications and cautions: Before taking this medication you should tell your health care provider if you experience the following conditions:
- Hypersensitivity to spiramycin or to other macrolide antibiotics
- Severe liver diseases
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
- In children

The most common side effects include: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hives and itching
