Flemoclav Solutab

Drug name: Flemoclav

Active Ingredients:

  • Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid

Therapeutic actions: Amoxicillin belongs to a group of medications called penicillin antibiotics. Amoxicillin interferes with the ability of bacteria to produce cell walls. Bacterial cell walls protect cells from entering the foreign substances inside the cells and stop the contents of cells from leaking out. Amoxicillin inhibits transpeptidase, disturbing the synthesis of peptidoglycane that is essential component in bacterial cell walls. As a result, bacteria is not able to protect themselves and then die. Clavulanic acid protects Amoxicillin from beta-lactamase action. Beta-lactamase are enzymes that are produced by some strains of the bacteria and work by deactivating the molecule's antibacterial properties. Clavulanic acid inhibits the activity of II, III, IV and V types of beta-lactamase. Clavulanic acid is not effective type1 beta-lactamase that is produced by Enterobacter spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Serratia spp., Acinetobacter spp.
