Active Ingredients:
- Ofloxacin
Therapeutic actions: The active ingredient of Floxwin is ofloxacin that belongs to quinolones antibacterial medicines. Ofloxacin works by inhibiting the activity of DNA-gyrase that is responsible for DNA(genetic material) replication. As a result, bacteria can not multiply and then die. Ofloxacin is a broad spectrum antibiotic that is highly effective against Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus, Salmonella, Shigella, Enterobacter, Citrobacter, Providentia, Pseudomonas, Hafnia, and Staphylococcus.
Neisseria, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Campylobacter, Brucella, Vibrio, Aeromonas, Plesiomonas, Haemophilus influenzae, Versinia are also susceptible to Ofloxacin.
Indications: Floxwin is used to treat acute and chronic infections caused by susceptible to ofloxacin bacteria:
- Airways infections(acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia) caused by Haemophilus influenzae or other Gram-negative cocci.
- ENT(ear, nose and throat) infectious diseases
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Infections of the bones and joints
- Infections of the abdominal cavity
- Bacterial enteritis
- Kidney and urogenital infections
- Gonorrhea
- Infections of the blood(sepsis)
Ofloxacin can also be used as prophylactic remedy in people with a weak immunity.
Contraindications and cautions: Do not use Ofloxacin if you experience the following conditions:
- Hypersensitivity or to Ofloxacin or to quinolones antibiotics
- Epilepsy
- Any CNS(central nervous system) disorders manifested with seizures
- Children under 18 years old
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding
- Lack of the enzyme G6PD in the blood (G6PD deficiency)
Talk with your health care provider prior to taking Ofloxacin if you experience:
- Kidney failure
- Liver failure
- History if seizures
- Psychiatric disorders
Warning!
- This medication can cause hypersensitivity of the skin. Avoid direct sun rays while taking Ofloxacin
- Alcohol may enhance the effect of Ofloxacin, increasing the risk of side effects.
- Ofloxacin may reduce the ability to drive or operate any machinery.
Stop taking this medication if you noticed first of the joint inflammation.
Ofloxacin side effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Ofloxacin will experience it or any other.
- Digestive system: diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting
- reactions: skin rash, itching
- CNS: headache, insomnia, dizziness, numbness, abnormal movements of the hands, legs, face, neck and tongue

You may increase the risk for seizures if you use Ofloxacin in combination with NSAID's and Theophylline. Ofloxacin may enhance the effects of blood thinners(warfarin and nicoumalone). Antacids decreases the absorption of Ofloxacin, reducing its therapeutic effect.
Cyclosporin may cause kidney damage while taking Ofloxacin
