Amikacin
Therapeutic actions: Amikacin belong to a group of aminoglycoside antibiotics. These drugs work by binding with the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosomes thus inhibiting protein synthesis which in turn leads to cell death.
Indications: Mercacin is indicated for the treatment of the following:
- CNS infections
- Urogenital infections
- Gastro-intestinal tract infections
- Skin and subcutaneous infections
- Abdominal infections
- Pneumonia
- Bone and joint infections
The drug is only administered through injections.
Contraindications and cautions: The drug should not be used in the following conditions:
- Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparation
- Kidney disease
- Hearing problems
- Parkinson's disease
- Neuromasular disorder
- Pregnancy and lactation period(consult your doctor)
