Active Ingredients:
- Metronidazole
Therapeutic actions: Metronidazole is an antibiotic, which works by killing sensitive bacteria.
Indications: Metronidazole is used in treating severe acne, redness and caused by the skin disorder - rosacea. It also may be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Contraindications and cautions: Do not use Metrogyl if:- you are to any ingredient in this gel;
- you are taking Disulfiram.
Also, before using Metronidazole gel, tell your doctor if:
- if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or if you are breast-feeding ;
- if you have to medicines, foods, or other substances;
- if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, preparation, or dietary supplement ;
- if you have a history of certain blood problems (eg, low white blood cell or platelet levels).
Adverse effects: and their possible side effects can affect individual people in different ways. The following are some of the side effects that are known to be associated with this medicine. Because a side effect is stated here, it does not mean that all people using this will experience that or any side effect.
Common adverse effects:
- mild burning;
- itching;
- dryness;
- scaling;
- stinging.
Severe adverse effects may appear, such as:
- allergic reactions: severe itching, rash, hives, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of mouth, face, lips, or tongue);
- severe burning;
- numbness in hands and feet, etc.

Some medicines may interact with Metronidazole gel. Tell your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, especially: - Warfarin, because the risk of its adverse effects may be increased by Metronidazole gel.
