Active Ingredients: clotrimazole

Therapeutic actions: Clotrimazole is is an antimycotic medicine used to treat infections with yeasts and fungi. It works by interfering with yeasts and fungi cell membranes. Clotrimazole stops the fungi from producing a substance called ergosterol. Ergosterol is an essential component of fungal cell membranes. The decreased production of ergosterol causes holes to appear in cell membrane of fungi and this kills them .

Indications:
Clotrimazole cream and spray are used to treat:

  • Fungal infection of the groin (tinea cruris).
  • Ringworm (tinea corporis).
  • Athlete's foot (tinea pedis).
  • Sweat rash caused by infection with Candida albicans
  • Penis inflammation (candidal balanitis) caused by Candida albicans (this conditionis also known as thrush).
  • the external symptoms (candidal vulvitis) of vaginal thrush (candidal vaginitis)
  • Fungal nappy rash which is caused by Candida albicans.

Clotrimazole vaginal tablets and vaginal suppositories are used to treat:

  • Inflammation of the vagina (vaginitis) which is caused by infection with Candida albicans.
  • Vaginal thrush

Contraindications and cautions:
You should not use Clotrimazole :

  • if you have an allergy to clotrimazole or to any of its ingridients
  • in children

You should talk with your health care provider prior to taking Clotrimazol:

  • if you are pregnant
  • if you are breastfeeding
  • if you are under 16 or over 60 years of age
  • if your sexual partner is also has thrush you should begin your treatment at the same time.

Warning!
Clotrimazole cream can damage latex which is used in condoms and diaphragms . If you are going to use this cream to treat penis or vagina infections you should use another method of contraception.
Clotrimazole cream and spray are for external use inly.
Clotrimazole vaginal tablets and vaginal suppositories are for vaginal use only.
