Active Ingredients:

ketoconazole

Therapeutic actions: Nizoral has an active ingredient ketoconazole. Nizoral is a type of drug called an antifungal. It works by interfering with yeasts and fungi cell membranes. Nizoral stops the fungi from producing a substance called ergosterol. Ergosterol is an essential component of fungal cell membranes. The decreased production of ergosterol causes holes to appear in cell membrane of fungi and this kills them .

Indications:
Nizoral is used to treat:

athlete's foot (tinea pedis).
ringworm (tinea corporis)
jock itch (tinea cruris)
skin inflammation with red, greasy and scaly areas (seborrhoeic dermatitis).
pityriasis versicolor( fungal skin condition)
Skin infection caused by Candida
vaginal thrush (candidal vaginitis).
candidal vulvitis(external symptoms)

Contraindications and cautions:
You should not use Nizoral

if you have an allergy to ketoconazole

You should talk with your health care provider prior to taking Nizoral :

if you are pregnant
if you are breastfeeding
if you are under 16 or over 60 years of age
if your sexual partner is also has thrush, you should begin your treatment at the same time.
