Drug name: Terbonile
Active Ingredients:
terbinafine
Therapeutic actions: Terbonile cream contains the active ingredient terbinafine hydrochloride, which is an antifungal medicine used to treat infections caused by fungi.
Terbinafine kills fungi and yeasts by interfering with their cell membranes. It works by stopping fungi from producing a substance called ergosterol, which is an essential component of fungal cell membranes. The disruption in production of ergosterol disrupts the cell membrane and causes holes to appear.
Indications:
- Fungal infections of the skin such as those below:
- Athlete's foot (tinea pedis)
- Fungal infection of the groin, ie jock itch (tinea cruris)
- Ringworm (tinea corporis)
- Pityriasis versicolor
- Yeast infections of the skin, eg Candida albicans
Contraindications and cautions:
You should not use Terbonile cream if:
- you are allergic to any ingredient in Terbonile cream
- you have severe kidney problems or a history of liver problems
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
- if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
- if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
- if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
- if you have a history of kidney problems, lupus, psoriasis, or alcohol abuse or dependence
- if you have a weakened immune system
Important safety information
- Avoid large amounts of food or drink that have caffeine (eg, coffee, tea, cocoa, cola, chocolate) while you are taking Terbonile .
- Lab tests, such as liver function tests, may be performed while you use Terbinafine . These tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments.
- Terbonile should be used with extreme caution in CHILDREN; safety and effectiveness in children have not been confirmed.

- Antiarrhythmics (eg, flecainide, propafenone), beta-blockers (eg, metoprolol), monoamine oxidase type B (MAO-B) inhibitors (eg, selegiline), selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) (eg, fluoxetine), or tricyclic Antidepressants (eg, amitriptyline) because the risk of their side effects may be increased by Terbinafine
- Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin) because their effectiveness may be decreased or the risk of their side effects may be increased by Terbinafine
