Active Ingredients:
- beclomethasone
Therapeutic actions: Becloforte belongs to a groups of gluco-corticosteroids with localized effect and is used as basis therapy in treatment of bronchial asthma. The drug exerts anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effect. Beclomethasone slows release of inflammatory mediators and increases production of lipocortin inhibitor of phospholipase A2, decreases release of arachidonic acid and oppresses synthesis of arachidonic acids metabolites. Increases the quantity of beta-adrenoreceptors thus restoring the reaction of the patient to bronchodilatators and decrease the frequency of their use. The drug does not relieve an acute asthma attack thus should not be used to treat such symptoms.
Indications: The drug is indicated in the following conditions:
- Bronchial asthma as basis therapy
- In cases of decreased effectiveness of bronchodilatators, ketotifen, cromoglicic acid
- To lower the dose of oral glucocorticoids in different conditions.
Contraindications and cautions: The drug should not be used in the following conditions:
- Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation
- Acute bronchospasm
- Asthmatic status as primary therapy
- Non-asthmatic bronchitis
- Should be used with caution:
- Liver cirrhosis
- Glaucoma
- Hyperthyroidism
- Systemic infections: Bacterial, fungal, parasitic, viral
- Osteoporosis
- Pregnancy
- Lactation period
Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Becloforte will experience it or any other. The side-effects include:
- Hoarseness
- Throat irritation
- Coughing
- Sneezing
- Paradoxial bronchospasm
- Eosinophilic pneumonia
- Allergic reactions
- Oral and throat candidosis
Rare systemic side-effects include:
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Cataract
- Increased intraocular pressure
- Lymphopenia
- Eosinophilia
