Halixol
Drug name: Halixol
Active Ingredients:
- Amboxol
Therapeutic actions: Halixol contains the active ingredient Ambroxol that belongs to expectorant(mucolytic) medications. Halixol dilutes the sputum due to activating the production of hydrolyctic enzymes that break down the conjunction of sputum mucopolysaccharides. Ambroxol also lowers the phlegm viscosity adhesion property due to stimulation the serous adenocytes of the bronchi mucous membrane. Ambroxol contribute to surfactant production as well. Therapeutic effect of he medication develops in 30 minutes after the application.
Indications: Halixol is indicated:
- in acute and chronic diseases of the respiratory system manifested in production of viscous sputum: bronchitis, bronchial asthma, Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease, pneumonia, multiple bronchiectasis.
- in ENT(ear, nose and throat) inflammatory diseases associated with viscous sputum.
Contraindications and cautions: Halixol(ambroxol) should not be used in:
- Ulcerative damage of the digestive tract
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Children under 5 years of age
- Severe kidney failure
- Diabetes(for syrup)
- Individual intolerance to ambroxol

- CNS: weakness, headache
- Digestive system: diarrhea, dry mouth, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting

Halixol contributes to penetration of some antibiotics(amoxicillin, cefuroxime, erythromycin, doxycycine) into the bronchial secret.
