Naphazoline
Therapeutic actions: Naphthyzinum is a is a decongestant. it's chemical structure differs from noradrenaline, Mezaton (phenylephrine hydrochloride), but it renders the same a-adrenomimetic effect. In comparison with noradrenaline and Mezaton NAphtyzinum causes a more prolonged contraction of peripheral vessels. Arterial pressure increases, pupil enlarge.
In connection with vasoconstrictor properties after application of naphthazoline on the mucous membranes renders antipyretic and anti-edematous effect. Nose respiration facilitates with rhinitis, decreasing the inflow of blood to venous sines.
Indications:
- Inflammation of antrums of highmore.
- to stop nasal bleedings
- At allergic conjunctivitis
- Rhinitis
Contraindications and cautions: It is not recommended to apply Naphthyzinum against chronic rhinitis for a long period. Naphthyzinum - is contraindicated to people with hypertensia, tachycardia, expressed atherosclerosis.
Adverse effects: Tachycardia, headache.
Interactions: Naphthyzinum shouldn't be applied with Mao inhibitors or within 10 days after stopping such treatment. Naphthyzinum also slow's absorption of local anesthetic means thus increasing and prolonging their efficacy.
