Daleron Cold
Drug name: Daleron Cold
Active Ingredients:
- dextromethorphan
- Paracetamol(Acetominophen)
- pseudoephedrine
Therapeutic actions: Daleron cold is a combination of antipyretic and analgesic remedy- paracetamol, antiedemic- pseudoephedrine and antitussive substance dextromethorphan.
Paracetamol belongs to a group of medicines called NSAID's. Paracetamol works by inhibiting the activity of the enzymes called COX I and COX II (cyclooxygenase) and ,thus, prevents the production of prostoglandins(inflammatory mediators). Paracetamol acts mainly on Central Nervous System, relieving pain and fever.
Pseudoephedrine works by acting on α-adrenergic receptors of the smooth muscles in bronchi and upper airways. Pseudoephedrine lowers hyperemia and edema of the mucous lining of the nasal pharynx and leading to relief of nasal breathing. Pseudoephedrine also possesses a mild stimulating effect on CNS.
Dextromethorphan acts on tussive center in CNS, increases the threshold of cough reflex, inhibits the dry cough associated with irritation of the mucous lining in upper airways.
Indications: Daleron Cold is used in symptomatic treatment of cold-related disease manifested with pain(headachem myalgia, sore throat), fever, nasal congestion and running nose(rhinorrhea), dry cough.
Contraindications and cautions: You should not use Daleron C if any of these conditions apply to you:
- Severe liver and kidney diseases
- Severe cardiovascular diseases(coronary heart disease, hypertension, angina,
- Deficiency of G6PD
- Hypersensitivity of any of the medication active ingredients
- Anemia
- Hyperplasia of the prostate gland with urinary retention
- Thyrotoxicosis
- Intra ocular hypertension
- Closed-angle glaucoma
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding
- Children under 12 years of age
Daleron C should be used with caution in patients with constitutional hyperbilirubinemia and alcohol abuse.
Avoid prolonged use of Daleron Cold
It is not recommended to use Daleron Cold in patients with diabetes
Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Daleron Cold will experience it or any other.
- Digestive system: nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, dry mouth, hepatotoxicity
- CNS: dizziness, irritability, drowsiness
- Cardiovascular system: high blood pressure, increased heart rate
- Hematopoietic system: anemia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis
- Allergic reactions: hives, skin rash and itching
- In prolonged use: kidney dysfunction

- Inductors of microsomal liver enzymes(sedative drugs, anticonvulsants, rifampicin, ethanol) in combination with Paracetamol may enhance the hepatotoxicity.
- Paracetamol increases the risk of liver damage in conjunction with chloramphenicole.
- Paracetamol in conjunction with azidothymidine (AZT) may cause neutropenia.
Daleron Cold should not be used in conjunction with MAO inhibotors, antidepressants(fluoxetine), antipsychotic agents(haloperidol), antiparkinsonian drugs and anti-epileptic drugs, barbiturates, dihydroergotamine, methyldopa.
Daleron Cold should be used with caution with metoclopramide, domperidone, cholesteramine, warfarin(blood thinner)
