ContraceptionContraceptives are a type of medicine used to prevent unplanned pregnancy. Contraception as a whole consists of many methods which vary in effectiveness from 10% like interrupted sexual intercourse to nearly a 100% in hormonal pills. Most contraceptives like the pill need to be first tested for personal compatibility and only then prescribed for daily use. Modern women prefer to plan their pregnancy and due to that fact the possibilities of contraceptions have largely increased. Nowadays contraceptive dosages of substances are 100 of times lower then the previous generation in 1970s. Contraceptives vary from male contraception like a condom to implant systems which release a certain substance right into the womb without affecting the gastro-intestinal tract or the liver. They are not metabolized thus reducing the possible side-effects of the medicine. Two of the most commonly used substances in oral contraceptives are: oestrogen and progestin and their derivatives. They work by suppressing the ovulation and changing the inner mucous tissue of the womb. In our store you can find a large variety of contraceptives for every need. |
