Therapeutic actions:

Generic Alesse is an contraceptive medication which works by inhibiting gonadotropic function of the pituitary gland (prevents the release of luteinizing and follicle-stimulating hormones), suppresses the development of follicle and prevents ovulation. Contraceptive effect is enhanced via increasing the viscosity of the cervical mucous and modifying endomethrium.

Indications:

Generic Alesse is indicated for prevention of undesirable pregnancy (hormonal contraception).

Contraindications and cautions:

Generic Alesse is contraindicated for the treatment of the following conditions:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the medication ingredients
  • Thrombosis (venous and arterial thrombosis) including thrombosis of the lower extremities, thromboembolia of the lung artery, heart attacks, cerebrovascular disorders.
  • Conditions which predispose to thrombosis (transient ischemic attack, stenocardia)
  • Diabetes with vascular complications
  • Severe liver diseases including liver failure, cirrhosis, jaundice, tumor
  • Migraine
  • Pancreatitis with expressed hyperlipidemia
  • Pregnancy
  • Breastfeeding
  • Dubin-Johnson syndrome
