Betax

Drug name: Betax

Active Ingredients:

  • Betaxolol

Therapeutic actions: Betax belongs to a group of medications known as beta-blockers. This type of drugs blocks beta-receptors throughout the body: in lungs, heart and blood vessels. When given as eye drops, Betax interacts with receptors in the blood vessels of the eye. causing them to constrict. As a result, the amount of aqueous humour (watery fluid) that passes out of the blood vessels into the eye-ball is decreased. Betax also works by blocking beta-receptors in the area of the eye that actively produces watery fluid. In turn, this leads to the reduction of intraocular pressure.

Indications:Betaxolol is used to treat:

  • Open angle glaucoma(Eye disease that is manifested with an increase of intraocular pressure, causing damage to the retina and optic nerve. If not treated early this may result in serious vision loss or even blindness).

Contraindications and cautions: You should not use Betaxolol drops:

  • if you suffer from cardiovascular disorders (heart blocks , severe heart failure, cardiogenic shock)
