Drug name: Calcium D
Active Ingredients:
- Calcium carbonate
- Vitamin D3
Therapeutic actions: Calcium D is a combined preparation which includes Calcium carbonate which exerts antacid, anti-ulcer, calcium deficiency replenishing effect and Vitamin D3 which is an important component of calcium-phosphorus metabolism in the intestines and affects absorption of calcium in the tissues. Thus the components exert a wide variety of effects which correspond with each other and potentiate the overall effect of the preparation.
Indications: Calicum D is used in treatment or prophylaxis of the following:
- Prophylaxis of osteoporosis
- Osteomalacia
- As complex treatment for osteoporosis and rachitism
- During pregnancy, lactation period and teenagers in case of calcium deficiency
- In Calcium deficiency which is caused by strict dieting
Contraindications and cautions: The drug should not be used in cases of :
- Hypercalcemia first and second degree
- Hypercalciuria
- Decalcifying tumors
- Hypoparathyroidism
- Renal insufficiency
- Osteoporosis caused by immobilization
