Active Ingredients:

  • Moexipril

Therapeutic actions: Belongs to a group of medications called ACE inhibitors. It works by blocking the activity of angiotensin converting enzyme and ,thus, retards the production of angiotensin II. Moexipril reduces vasospasm, increases the activity of renin in blood plasm and reduces the secretion of aldosterone.

Moexipril also decreases the degenereation of bradykinin that leads to vasodilation due to release of nitric oxide and prostocyclin from endothelium(due to activation of beta2-kinin receptors).

General therapeutic effect of Moex is manifested in lowering high blood pressure.

Indications: Moes is an unique preparation used to treat hypertension(high blood pressure) in women in postmenopausa.

Moexipril is recommended to treat hypertension in people:

  • with active mode of life
  • with kidney diseases
  • in elderly age
  • with excessive body weight

Contraindications and cautions: Moex should not be used in patients:

  • With hypersensitivity to Moexipril
  • With angioedema(hereditary and idiopathic) and edema associated with ACE inhibitors application.
  • Pregnancy
  • Breastfeeding

who does not receive dialysis

  • Liver diseases
  • Decompensated heart failure

Moexipril should not be used in children.

You should talk with your health care provider prior to taking Moexipril if any of the following conditions apply to you:

Renal artery stenosis manifested in narrowing of the arteries that supply blood to the kidneys

  • Stenosis of aortic and mitral valve
  • Severe kidney diseases
  • Increase proteinuria(increased proteins levels in the urine)
  • Severe disorders of the electrolytic balance
  • Collagen disorders
  • Patients with low fluid volume or salt levels in the blood
  • Patients with athersclerosis, eg in the heart (cardiovascular disease), brain (cerebrovascular disease) or legs (peripheral vascular disease).
  • Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy
  • Diabetes
  • Conditions that affect conjunctive tissue, eg scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosus (collagen vascular diseases)
  • Patients who receive therapy to remove certain types of fat from the blood using a machine (LDL apheresis)
  • Patients undergoing desensibilization therapy.

Regularly check potassium blood levels while taking this medicine.

Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Moex will experience it or any other.

The most frequent side effects include: cough, headache, dizziness, tiredness, taste changes, skin rash and irritation.

In rare cases the following side effects may occur: chest pain, increased heart rate, constipation, diarrhea, appetite changes, bronchitis, tonsillitis, nasal congestion, gasping, kidney dysfunction, sleep disorders, nervousness, stinging in the ears, increased sweating, pain of the muscles and joints, feeling sick.

In very rare cases disorders of the liver and pancreas can occur.

Moex may enhance the effects of other drugs used to treat high blood pressure(ACE inhibitors, calcium channel blockers, beta and alpha blockers)

Moex may increase potassium blood levels if used in conjunction with potassium sparing diuretics.

Moex increases the effects of lithium in simultaneous use. Moex should not be used in combination with blood thinners and ciclosporin
