Active Ingredients:

  • dihydralazine
  • hydrochlorothiazide
  • reserpine

Therapeutic actions: Plecidrex is a combined preparation which consists of 3 ingredients: reserpin – sympatholitic, dihydralazine sulfate – arterial vasodilatator, hydrochlorothiazide – diuretic. The overall effect which is reached is decrease in blood pressure.

Indications: The drug is indicated in treatment of arterial hypertension.

Contraindications and cautions: The drug should not be used in the following conditions:

  • Depression
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Epilepsy
  • Electroshock therapy
  • Stomach and duodenal ulcer in acute phase
  • Ulcerous colitis
  • Pheochromocytoma
  • Subsidiary MAO inhibitor treatment
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus
  • Expressed tachycardia and cardiac insufficiency
  • Cardiac insufficiency as a result of mechanical blockage
  • Isolated right ventricular insufficiency due to lung hypertension
  • Anuria, severe renal insufficiency
  • Renal insufficiency
  • Refractory hypoglycemia, hyponatriaemia, hypercalciumemia
  • Hyperuricimia
  • Pregnancy
  • Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparation.

If signs of depression occur stop the treatment immediately. Patients with liver dysfunction need to be monitored during treatment.

Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Plecidrex will experience it or any other. The side-effects include:

  • Gastrointestinal tract: diarrhea, dry mouth, increased gastric juice secretion, increased salivation, dyspeptic conditions, nausea, vomiting, increased appetite, ulcer formation, constipation, diarrhea, gastrointestinal bleeding.
  • Cardiovascular system: sinus bradycardia, swelling, ortostatic hypotension, increased facial blood flow, fainting, cardiac insufficiency, changes in brain blood flow, tachycardia, increased heart rate, hypotension, angina.
  • Respiratory system: swelling of the nasal cavity, labored breathing, nasal bleeding.
  • CNS and peripheral nervous system: headache, dizziness, depression, irritability, nightmares, increased tiredness, extrapyramidal dysfunction, anxiety, decreased concentration, abnormal orientation, brain swelling, agitation, anorexia, irritability, peripheral neuritis, paresthesia, sleep disturbance.
  • Urogenital system: decreased sexual function, impotence, changes in libido dysuria, glomerulonephritis.
  • Endocrine system: changed body weight, increased secretion of prolactin, galactorrhea,swelling of the mammary glands
  • Organoleptical changes: vision impairment, conjunctiva hyperemia, delacrimation, decreased hearing.
  • Liver side-effects: jaundice, hepatitis, cholestasis, pancreatitis
  • Haemopoietic system: anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocitosis, hemolitic anemia, oppression of haemopoietic function
  • Changes in electrolyte balance: hypokalemia, increased levels of lipids in blood, hyponatriaemia, hypomagnemia, hyperuricimia, hypercalciumemia, hyperglycemia, glucoseuria, severe metabolic dysfunction in diabetes,
  • Dermatological reactions: skin rash, photosensitivity, necrotic vasculitis, lupus erythematosus a like syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, eczema, itching.
  • Other: flu like symptoms, weakness, anemia, purpura.
