Active Ingredients:

• Celecoxib

Therapeutic actions: Celebrex(celecoxib) belongs to a group of medicines called NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug). Celebrex inhibits the enzyme COX2( cyclooxigenase-2) resulting in inhibiting the production of inflammatory mediators called prostoglandins. Thus, Celebrex exerts anti-inflammatory and moderate analgesic effects.

Indications: Celebrex is indicated in the following conditions:

• Painful syndrome of a different origin
• Treating of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis manifestations such as swelling, pain and stiffness.
• Painful menstrual periods

Celebrex is sometimes prescribed for rectal and colon polyps in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP)

Contraindications and cautions: Celebrex should not be used in the following conditions:

• Allergy to any of the medication ingredients or allergy to sulfa medicines.
• Tendency to skin allergic reactions, bronchial asthma, hives, intolerance of NSAID's
• Third pregnancy trimester
• Breastfeeding

Necessarily let your health care provider know in the following conditions:

• Cardiovascular diseases(congestive heart failure, hypertension)
• Liver diseases(liver failure)
• Diabetes
• Bleedings of a different origin
• Kidney disease(kidney failure)
• Stomach ulcers

• The most common side effects include:
• Gastrointestinal tract: abdominal pain, diarrhea, dyspepsia, meteorism,
• CNS: headache, dizziness, drowsiness
• Other: swelling of the arms or legs, runny nose, sore throat, cold and flu symptoms, skin rash

• ACE inhibitors
• NSAID's (Aspirin)
• Anti fungal agents(fluconazole)
• Water pills(Lasix, thiazide diuretics)
• Lithium
• Warfarin
