Choludexan
Drug name: Choludexan
Active Ingredients:
- Ursodeoxycholic acid
Therapeutic actions: Choludexan belongs to a group of medications called hepatoprotectors. Choludexan exerts bile-expelling, hepatoprotective, hypocholesteremic and immunomodulatory action. Choludexan contributes to dilution of cholesterol gallstones. Ursodeoxycholic acid protects and stabilizes the structure of the liver cells(hepatocytes).
Indications: Choludexan is indicated to treat the following conditions:
- Uncomlicated gallstone disease(when it is not possible to remove gallstones by the surgical and endoscopic methods).
- Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis
- Acute and Chronic viral hepatitis
- Liver damage caused by toxic substances
- Chronic active hepatitis
- Alcoholic liver damage
- Primary biliary cirrhosis
- primary sclerosing cholangitis
- Cystic fibrosis
- Biliary atresia
- Cholestasis
- Biliary reflux gastritis and reflux esophagitis
- Biliary dyspeptic syndrome
- Diskenesia of the bile passages
Choludexan is also used for prophylaxis of liver damage while taking hormonal contraceptive or cytostatic medication.
Contraindications and cautions: You should not use Choludexan if you experience the following conditions:
- Hypersensitivity or allergy to ursodeoxycholic acid
- Acute inflammatory diseases of the gall bladder and bile passages
- Gallstone disease(with increased Ca2+ concentration)
- gastrointestinal fistula
- Acute cholecystitits
- Acute cholangitis
- Acute inflammatory processes in jejunum and large bowel
- Liver cirrhosis in the stage of decompensation
- Liver or kidney failure
- Pancreatitis
- Gallbladder empyema
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

You should regularly pass X-ray and ultrasonic examinations of the bile passages

Antacids and cholestyramine may decrease the absorption of Choludexan
Neomycin, estrogens, fibrates(hypolipidemic drugs) may decrease the ability of preparation to remove the cholesterol gallstones.
