Drug name: Flavotan
Therapeutic actions: Flavotan is a drug of a plant origin, it normalizes cell's metabolism , rheological properties of the blood and microcirculation. It improves cerebral blood circulation and supply the brain with oxygen and glucose, prevents the aggregation of erythrocytes, impedes the factor of the activation of thrombocytes. It has the dose-dependent regulated effect on vascular system, stimulates the production of the endothelium- dependent weakening factor, enlarges small arteries, increases the tone of veins, thus regulating blood filling of vessels. It possesses the anti-thrombotic action (due to the stabilization the membranes of thrombocytes and erythrocytes, influence on the synthesis of prostaglandins). It prevents formation of free radicals and peroxide oxidation of the lipids of the cellular membranes.
Flavotan also normalizes liberation, absorption and catabolism of neuromediators (norepinephrine, dopamine, acetylcholine) and their ability for connection with the receptors.
Indications: Flavotan is used to treat:
- Discirculatory encephalopathy (stroke, craniocerebral injury, ), which is manifested by the following symptoms: attention's reduction , weakening memory, intellectual abilities reduction, fear, the disturbance of sleep; the disturbance of peripheral blood circulation and microcirculation, moodiness and anxiety. Flavotan also improves circulation in the extremities and thus alleviates cold feet sensation, tingling, numbness and pain in walking.
Contraindications and cautions:
You should not use this medication if :
- you have an allergy to gingko biloba.
- you are taking a monoamine-oxidase inhibitor Antidepressant (MAOI)
- you have hyperthyroidism.
