Active Ingredients:
- Piracetam
Therapeutic actions: Noocitam expresses nootropic effect. IT exerts positive effect on the metabolic processes in the brain: increases the concentration of ATP in the brain tissue, increases the synthesis or RNA and phospholypids, stimulates glycolytic processes and increases the utilization of glucose. Improves the integrative activity of the brain and promotes memory consolidation, eases the process of learning. Exerts defensive effect against brain damage caused by intoxication, electric shock and hypoxia. The effects develop smoothly and the drug does not exert any sedative or psycho-stimulating effect.
Indications: The drug is indicated in the following conditions:
- Neurological: vascular disease of the brain, chronic cerebrovascular insufficiency, comatose conditions, reconvalescence, CNS disease that are accompanied by decrease of intellectual function and emotional sphere, Alzheimer's disease.
- Psychiatry: neurotic syndrome, astheno-depressive syndrome, as subsidiary therapy in different conditions, depressive conditions, cortical myoclonia,
- Narcology: abstinent alcoholic syndrome, delirious conditions, abstinent morphine syndrome, acute ethanol, morphine, barbiturate, phenamin poisoning, chronic alcoholism.
- Sickle cell disease as subsidiary therapy
- In pediatric practice: improves the speed of learning and decreases the after-effects of perinatal brain damage.
Contraindications and cautions: The drug should not be used in the following conditions:
- Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparation
- Severe liver insufficiency
- Hemorrhagic insult
Should be used with caution in:
- Homeostasis dysfunctions
- Vast surgery
- Severe bleeding
- Pregnancy and lactation period.
Renal and liver function should be monitored in patients with corresponding diseases.

- Psychic agitation
- Irritability
- decreased ability to concentrate
- Anxiety
- Insomnia
- Gastralgia

- Dizziness
- Headache
- Extrapyramidal dysfunctions
- Seizures
- Tremor
- Increased sexual activity
- Increased stenocardia
