Voltaren contains diclofenac sodium which belongs to group of medicines called NSAID's. The medication exerts anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-pyretic action. Therapeutic effect of the medication is associated with blocking the production of inflammatory mediators called prostoglandins. Prostoglandins play a significant role in pathogenesis of inflammation, pain and fever. By blocking the production of inflammatory mediators Voltaren helps to relieve pain, reduce inflammatory reactions and swelling related to arthritis.Indications: Voltaren is used in:
- Osteoarthritis symptoms
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Ankylosing spondylitis
- Pain of light and moderate severity
- Migraine attacks
- Pain associated with gynecological diseases
Contraindications and cautions:
Voltaren is contraindicated in the following conditions:- Hypersensitivity to any of the medication ingredients
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding
- Stomach and duodenal ulcers
- Bronchial asthma
- Hives
- Acute rhinitis
- Cardiovascular disease
- Kidney and liver disease
- Bleeding problems
- Diabetes
