Therapeutic actions: Synthetic products dexpanthenol is converted in the body to pantothenic acid or calcium pantothenate. Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) is essential to all life, and is a component of coenzyme A (CoA), a molecule that is necessary for numerous vital chemical reactions to occur in cells. Pantothenic acid is essential to the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, as well as for the synthesis of hormones and cholesterol.
Indications: Dexpantenol is used for:
Relieving dry skin, preventing and treating sore nipples during breast-feeding, and promoting healing of burns and poorly-healing wounds. It may also be used for treating dermatitis, bedsore, intertrigo, abscesses , furuncles.
Contraindications and cautions:
You should not use Dexpantenol if:
- you are allergic to any ingredient in Dexpanthenol ointment
You should talk with your health care provider prior to taking Dexpantenol :
- if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
- if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
- if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances

- Dexpanthenol ointment is for external use only.
- Avoid getting Dexpanthenol ointment in your eyes or mouth.
- Dexpanthenol ointment is not recommended for use in CHILDREN. Safety and effectiveness have not been confirmed.
- Apply Dexpanthenol ointment directly to the affected areas once or twice daily, or as directed by your health care provider.
- Wash and completely dry the affected area. Gently rub the medicine in until it is evenly distributed. Wash your hands immediately after using Dexpanthenol ointment, unless your hands are part of the treated area.
- If you miss a dose of Dexpanthenol ointment, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.

- Skin irritation
Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:
- Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue).
