Drug name: Zineryt lotion

Active Ingredients: Erythromycin and zinc acetate

Therapeutic actions: Erythromycin is a member of the macrolide family of antibiotics. It interferes with the production of proteins that bacteria need to multiply and divide. This inhibits the ability of the bacteria to grow (i.e. it has a bacteriostatic action).
By controlling bacterial numbers, the inflammation of acne can be reduced.
It also changes the composition of sebum, resulting in a reduction of the inflammation in acne.
Zinc preparations have traditionally been used for their skin healing properties. In this preparation, zinc is used in the form of zinc acetate because this combines with the erythromycin to form a chemical complex which is efficiently absorbed into the skin.

Contraindications and cautions:
You should not use this medication if :

• You have sensitivity or allergy to any Zynerit ingredient (Erythromycin and zinc acetate)
• If you feel you have experienced an allergic reaction, stop using this medicine and inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

Warning!

• Avoid contact with eyes
• Avoid contact with mouth and mucous membranes.

There are no known harmful effects when this medicine is used by pregnant or breastfeeding mothers. But you should talk with your health care provider prior to taking Zineryt.

Skin drying preparations such as medicated cosmetics, soaps, toiletries and other anti-acne preparations increase the likelihood of dryness and irritation of the skin.
