Drug name: Buscopan
Therapeutic actions: Buscospan belongs to a group of drugs called M-cholinoblockers. The drug works by decreasing the tone of the plain muscles and their contractive activity, decreases the secretion of digestive glands, increases the frequency of cardiac contractions, increases intraocular pressure, causes midriases and accomodation paralysis.
Indications: Buscopan is indicated in the following conditions:
- Renal colic
- Biliary colic
- Cholecystitis
- Intestinal colic
- Stomach and duodenal ulcer in the acute stages(additional therapy)
- Algomenorrhea
- Parkisnon's disease
- Nausea
- Rhinorrhea
- Hypersalivation
- Diarrhea
- Spastic constipation
- Enuresis
- Sea and airsickness
- Bradyarrhythmia
- As relaxing treatment before surgery and specific procedures
Contraindications and cautions: The preparation should not be used in the following conditions:
- Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparation
- Paralytic intestinal blockage
Should be used with caution:
- Cardiovascular disease
- Thyreotoxicosis
- Hyperthermia
- Specific gastro-intestinal dysfunction or disease
- Disease that cause increased intraocular pressure
- Nonspecific ulcerous colitis
- Dry mouth
- Liver and renal insufficiency
- Chronic respiratory tract disease in children

- Urine retention

Withdrawal of the preparation should be made during a period of time due to possible appearance of unwanted side-effects if stopped suddenly. The drug should not be mixed with alcohol. The person should avoid extreme physical exercise which involves overheating. The drug may cause dizziness so please be careful when operating machinery or driving.
