Drug name: Contrykal
Active Ingredients:
- Aprotinin
Therapeutic actions: Contrykal is a multivalent inhibitor of protease. The drug exerts anti proteolytic, anti-fibrinolytic and hemostatic effects. The drug inactivates primary protease and slows overall proteolytic activity. The effect on the protease activity allows the use of the drug in pancreatic dysfunction and other conditions that are accompanied by increased quantities of protease in the plasma and tissues. The preparation decreases fibrinolytic activity of blood, slows fibrinolysis and exerts homeostatic effect in specific blood-clotting disorder. The effects of the drug on kinin-kallikrein system allows its use in prophylaxis and treatment of different forms of shock.
Indications: The drug may be indicated in treatment of such disease as:
- Pancreatitis
- Pancreonecrosis
- Prophylaxis of acute non-specific post surgical parotiditis
- Posttraumatic and post surgical bleeding
- Polymenorrhea
- Angioneurotic edema
- Shock
- Vast and profound traumatic tissue injury
As subsidiary therapy:
- Blood-clotting disorder
- Massive bleeding
Prophylaxis of different conditions:
- Pulmonary embolism and bleeding
Contraindications and cautions: The drug should be avoided in the following cases:
- Acute allergic reactions
- Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparation
- Pregnancy
- Lactation period
- Disseminated intravascular coagulation
Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Aprotinin will experience it or any other. The side-effects include:
- Cardiovascular system: decreased arterial pressure, tachycardia

- Local reactions: thrombophlebitis
- Other: bronchospasm, myalgia.
