Drug name: Enzystal
Active Ingredients:
- bile extract and hemicellulase,
- lipase,
- pancreatin(amylase, protease)
Indications:
Enzystal is used as replacement therapy in insufficient activity of pancreatic gland in the following conditions:
- Mucoviscidosis
- Chronic pancreatitis
- Pancreatectomy
- Pancreatic cancer
- Ductal obstruction caused by newgrowth
- Schwachman syndrome
- Elderly age
As symptomatic treatment in the following conditions:
- Condition after cholecystectomy
- Limited stomach resection
- Total gastrectomy
- Duodeno- and gastrostasis
- Biliary obstruction
- Cholangiolitic hepatitis
- Liver cirrhosis
- Excessive bacterial growth in the intestine
- Steatorea in malabsorption syndrome
Contraindications and cautions:
Ezystal should not be used in the following conditions:
- Increased individual hypersensitivity
- Acute pancreatitis
- Aggravation of chronic pancreatitis
- Patients with suspect appendicitis
- Enzystal should be used only after the consultation with your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Enzystal tablets should not be chewed, 'cause digestive enzymes are inactivated in the stomach.
High dosages of Enzystal may cause constipation, painful sensation in the mouth in children.
Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Enzystal will experience it or any other.
- Digestive system: nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea.
- Allergic reaction: sneezing, hives, bronchospasm.

- Cimetidine and antacids enhance the effect of Enzystal.
- In simultaneous use Enzystal reduces bioavailability of iron medications.
