Drug name: Generic Zelnorm

Active Ingredients: Tegaserod

Therapeutic actions:

Zelnorm contains the active ingredient Tegaserod which belongs to a group of medicines called stimulators of seretonin receptors. Zelnorm acts in the digestive tract and contributes to increase of movement of the stomach content through the digestive tract. This in its turn helps to prevent constipation. Zelnorm also lowers the sensitivity of the nerve cells in the digestive tract, decreases bloating.

Indications: Zelnorm is approved for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) with constipation and chronic idiopathic constipation.

Contraindications and cautions:

Zelnorm should not be taken in the following conditions:

• Kidney disease
• Liver disease
• Frequent diarrhea
• Bowel obstruction
• Gall bladder disease
• Cardiovascular diseases
• Pregnancy
• Breastfeeding
• Hypersensitivity to any of the medication ingredient
