Lopedium
Drug name: Lopedium
Active Ingredients:
- Loperamide
Indications: Symptomatic treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea of a different genesis:
- Severe diarrhea
- Diarrhea associated with inflammatory intestinal diseases
- Diarrhea in functional disturbances of the bowel
- Acute diarrhea
- Regulation of the bowel movement in patients with ileostomy
Contraindications and cautions:
Loperamide should not be used in the following conditions:
- Conditions where preventing gut movement should be avoided, such as constipation, obstruction of the intestines (ileus) or abdominal swelling (distension)
- Diarrhea related to antibiotic treatment
- Children under 12 years of age
- Patinets with diarrhea containing blood or pus and associated with a fever.
- Inflammatory disease of the intestine such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease
Loperamide should be used with caution
- In pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- Liver diseases
Warning!
If you do not notice any improvements while taking Loperamide within 24 hours talk with your doctor or stop taking Loperamide.
Acute diarrhea may make you dehydrated. It is recommended to drink a plenty of water or use oral rehydration therapy.
Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Lopedium will experience it or any other.
- Digestive system: constipation, meteorism, abdominal pain, dryness and unpleasant taste in the mouth, nausea, vomiting
- Allrgic reaction: skin rash
- CNS: headache, dizziness
