Drug name: Lopedium

Active Ingredients:

Loperamide

Therapeutic actions: Loperamide is anti-diarrheal preparation. It works by lowering the tonicity and motility of the intestinal smooth muscles due to binding to opioid receptors of the bowel. The tonicity of the sphincter is also reduced. Loperamide reduces the secretion of liquid and electrolyte fluid into the intestine. Therapeutic effect of the preparation occurs quickly and lasts 4-6 hours. Lopamid does not act on the intestinal microflofa.

Indications: Symptomatic treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea of a different genesis:

Severe diarrhea
Diarrhea associated with inflammatory intestinal diseases
Diarrhea in functional disturbances of the bowel
Acute diarrhea
Regulation of the bowel movement in patients with ileostomy

Contraindications and cautions:
Loperamide should not be used in the following conditions:

Conditions where preventing gut movement should be avoided, such as constipation, obstruction of the intestines (ileus) or abdominal swelling (distension)
Diarrhea related to antibiotic treatment
Children under 12 years of age
Patinets with diarrhea containing blood or pus and associated with a fever.
Inflammatory disease of the intestine such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease

Loperamide should be used with caution

In pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Liver diseases

Warning!
If you do not notice any improvements while taking Loperamide within 24 hours talk with your doctor or stop taking Loperamide.
Acute diarrhea may make you dehydrated. It is recommended to drink a plenty of water or use oral rehydration therapy.

Digestive system: constipation, meteorism, abdominal pain, dryness and unpleasant taste in the mouth, nausea, vomiting
Allrgic reaction: skin rash
CNS: headache, dizziness
