Active Ingredients:
- Bile extract with hemicellulase pancreatin
Therapeutic actions: Plestal is a combine drug that belongs to enzymatic agents. Plestal contains a combination of digestive enzymes that improve digestion. Digestive enzymes(lipase, amylase, protease) improve the digesting of proteins, lipids and carbohydrates and ,thus, contributes to their full absorption in the intestine. Bile extract acts as choleretic agent, contributes to lipids emulsification, increases lipase activity, improves the absorption of lipids and fat-soluble vitamins A,D, E, K. Enzyme hemicellulase is imortant for dietary fibre breakdown. Plestal normalizes the function of gastrointestinal system
Indications: Plestal is used as replacement therapy in insufficient activity of pancreatic gland in the following conditions:
- Chronic pancreatitis
- Elderly age
- Mucoviscidosis
- Pancreatectomy
- Pancreatic cancer
- Ductal obstruction caused by tumor
- Schwachman syndrome
As symptomatic treatment in the following conditions:
- Limited stomach resection
- Total gastrectomy
- Cholangiolitic hepatitis
- Liver cirrhosis
- Condition after cholecystectomy
- Duodeno- and gastrostasis
- Biliary obstruction
- Excessive bacterial growth in the bowel
- Steatorea in malabsorption syndrome
Contraindications and cautions: Plestal should not be used if the following conditions apply to you:
- Individual intolerance to any of the medication active ingredients
- Aggravation of chronic pancreatitis or acute pancreatitis
- Patients with suspect appendicitis
- Plestal should be used only after the consultation with your doctor if you are pregnant or during lactation(breastfeeding)
Plestal tablets should not be chewed, because digestive enzymes are inactivated in the stomach.
High doses of Plestal may cause constipation, painful sensation in the mouth in children.

- Digestive system: vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea.
