Active Ingredients:
- Levothyroxine sodium
Therapeutic actions: Levothyroxine sodium is a synthetic hormone of the thyroid gland( Ò4). It works by stimulating the growth and development. Levothyroxine increases the oxygen requirement by the tissue, stimulates metabolism of the proteins, lipids and carbohydrates, improves functional activity of the cardiovascular and central nervous systems. Levothyroxine sodium is given when the body is not able to produce thyroid hormone Ò4 on its own. Euthyrox helps to relieve symptoms related to thyroid insufficiency such as sensitivity to cold, weight gain, lack of energy and dry skin.
Indications:
- Euthyroid goiter
- Primary and secondary hypothyroidism
- Replacement therapy and prophylaxis of goiter after strumectomy
- Tumor of the thyroid gland.
- Basedow's goiter
Contraindications and cautions: Euthyrox should not be used if you have had previous heart attacks, a thyroid disorder known as thyrotoxicosis, adrenal gland disease that can not be controlled by treatment.
Talk with your health care provider if you experience the following conditions:
- Heart diseases(coronary artery disease)
- Anemia (lack of red blood cells)
- Pituitary or adrenal glands diseases
- History of blood clots
Your health care provider should correct the right dosage for you if you take insulin or oral diabetic drugs.
Euthyrox can be used in pregnancy and breastfeeding
Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Euthyrox will experience it or any other.
Euthyrox is usually well tolerated. However some people may experience increased heart beats, disturbances of the heart rhythm, tremor, anxiety, insomnia, increased body perspiration, weight loss, diarrhea.

In simultaneous use Euthyrox exponentiate the action of indirect anticoagulant and decreases the efficacy of hypoglycemic agents.
Do not take Euthyrox in combination with cholesteramine, phenytoin
Euthyrox can also interact with NSAID', furosemide, clofibrate.
