Drug name: Iodoxid
Active Ingredients:
- Povidone iodine
Therapeutic actions: Iodoxid(Povidone iodine) is antiseptic for the local application in gynecology. Iodoxid works by blocking amino groups of the cells' proteins. Povidone iodine possesses a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity; it is effective against bacteria(Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus), fungi, viruses and protozoa.
Indications: Iodoxid is indicated in the following conditions:
- Treatment of acute and chronic inflammatory infectious diseases of the vagina(trichomond, fungal, viral, nonspecific, mixed infections)
- Prophylaxis of inflammatory infectious complications before gynecological interventions
Contraindications and cautions: Iodoxid should not be used in:
- Simultaneous therapy with radioactive iodine
- Dermatitis
- Adenoma of thyroid gland
- Thyrotoxicosis
- Children
- Hypersensitivity to any of the medication ingredients
- Iodoxid should be used with caution in chronic kidney failure
- Pregnancy
- Necessarily let your health care provide know if you are breastfeeding
