Active Ingredients:

Estriol

Therapeutic actions: Estriol is an estrogen which is synthesized in the human organism. When it reaches the blood it forms a complex with the specific receptors in the womb, urethra, mammary gland, liver, hypothalamus, hypophysis and stimulates the synthesis of DNA and proteins. The hormone selectively affects cervix of the uterus, vagina, vulva, causes increased proliferation of the vaginal epithelium and womb cervix, stimulates blood flow, promotes restoration of the epithelium if any atrophic changes have occurred in the premenopause and menopause periods. Normalizes pH and microflora of the vagina, increases resistibility of the vagina to infection and inflammation affects the quality an quantity of cervical mucus. Has hypolipidemic action, lightly increases the concentration of beta-lipoproteins in the blood, increases sensitivity to insulin and glucose utilization, stimulates production of globulins by the liver, binding sex hormones, rennin, high density lipoproteins and blood clothing factors. Due to the involvement in the realization of positive and negative feedback in hypothalamic-hypothesis-ovary system estradiol can cause systemic reactions. Stimulates parasympathomimetic reactions.

Indications: The drug is indicated in the following conditions:

Ovary hypofunction
Sterility
Vaginitis
Hypohenitalism
Sexual infantilism
Colpitis in old age
Climacteric syndrome
With diagnostic purpose
Enuresis
Pre and post surgical therapy during postmenopausal period
Prophylaxis of recurring infections of the vagina and lower parts of urogenital system

Contraindications and cautions: The drug should not be used in the following conditions:

Hypersensitivity
Pregnancy
Malignant tumors
Womb bleeding
Thrombophlebitis

Should be used with caution in:

Thrombophlebitis , thrombosis, thromboembolia
Pancreatitis
Endomethriosis
Gal bladder disorders
Severe liver dysfunction
Jaundice
Liver porfiration
Hypercaliciemia
Mammary gland cancer.

Consult your doctor if any of the above apply to you. During long-term treatment your condition should be monitored carefully. Every 6 months a full check-up should be preformed.

Increases the effect of hypolipidemic drugs
Decreases the effect of men hormones, blood thinners, antidepressants, diuretics, anti-hypertensive drugs, hypoglycemic drugs.
Barbiturates and anti-epileptic medication increases the metabolism of steroid hormones.
Antibiotics, systemic anesthetics, narcotic analgesics, anxiolytics, antiepileptic medication, alcohol and certain hypertensive medicine lower the effectiveness of Ovestin. Folic acid and preparations of the thyroid gland exponentiate the action of Estradiol.
