Drug name: Polygynax

Active Ingredients:

Neomycin,
Nystatin,
Polymyxin B

Therapeutic actions: Polygynax contains 3 active ingredients Neomycin, Polymyxin B and Nystatin.

Polygynax exerts antibacterial, bactericidal and antifungal action. Neomycin and Polymyxin B are effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms including : Ureaplasma urealyticum, Staphylococcus aureus, Corynebacterium , Enterobacter aerogenes, Enterococcus faecium Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Proteus vulgaris, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Neomycin belongs to a group of antibiotics called aminoglycosides. Neomycin causes the bacteria to produce abnormal proteins that makes bacteria nonviable.

Polymixin increases the permeability of the bacteria's cell membrane , resulting in lysis of the bacteria.

Nystatin possesses anti fungal action. It is effective against Candida albicans, Hystoplasma Cryptococcus, Hystoplasma. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol that is essential component of the fungal cell membrane.

Indications: Polygynax is used to treat the following conditions:

Vaginitis caused by sensitive to Neomycin or Polymyxin B bacteria.
Nonspecific vaginitis
Vaginitis caused by fungi(Candida albicans)
Vulvovaginitis
Cervicovaginitis
Prophylaxis of vaginal infections caused by bacteria or fungi following any gynaecological surgery

Contraindications and cautions: You should not use this medication:

In hypersensitivity or allergy to any of Polyginax active ingredients.
In pregnancy
In children
in breastfeeding

if you have kidney failure, liver diseases or diabetes.

Skin rash
Burning sensation or itching in the vagina
In very rare ototoxicity and renal toxicity
