Active Ingredients:
- Norethisterone
Therapeutic actions: Norcolut belongs to a group of drugs called birth control pills. The drug contains an oral progestin called Norethisterone. Such birth control pills are sometimes called mini-pills. The drug in low doses works by preventing the release of the egg from the ovaries and increasing the thickness of natural mucus in the womb. At high doses progestin may inhibit the function of pituitary gland.
Indications: The drug is used as an oral contraceptive or to treat the following conditions:
- Amenorrhea
- Uterine bleeding
- Endometriosis
Contraindications and cautions: The drug should not be used by women in such conditions as:
- Known pregnancy
- Breast carcinoma
- Undiagnosed genital bleeding
- Known allergic reaction to the components of the preparation
- Liver tumors
- Acute liver dysfunction
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if the following apply to you:
- A history of venous thromboembolism
- Heart attack
- Liver or kidney problems
- Jaundice
- Porphyria
- Diabetes
- Asthma
- Migraines
- Epilepsy
